Water Wolf Lures leaders are available in both Seguar Premier 180 lb fluorocarbon and Kast King 150 lb and 200 lb premium hard mono. From sizes like 10" which are best for tight quarters figure 8 fishing to longer 36" and 72" trolling leaders, we cover most common musky fishing techniques.
Lengths available 10", 14", 36" and 72"
All our leaders feature Stay Lok #5 300 lb test snaps, premium 165lb and 220lb test swivels and 2 double crimped aluminum collars at both ends with flared leader material ends.
Our loop protectors are PTFE fluoropolymer tubing, a very durable and extremely slippery material. More abrasion resistant and rigid than vinyl tubing, this tubing allows that snaps and swivels to move freely in the loop area with less chance of kinking under pressure.
We have pull tested our leaders against other brands single crimped leaders and on average our leaders are up to 20 % stronger. Regardless of the leader material pound test, the weakest point is always at crimp or knot points. In our pull tests, most single crimp leaders will fail at around 100 to 105 lbs of direct in line pull. Our double crimped leaders pull strength tests averaged 118 to 125 lbs of direct in line pull.
When comparing Fluorocarbon vs Hard Mono, abrasion resistance is the primary reason most musky angler choose Fluorocarbon. Fluorocarbon is a stiffer, more abrasion resistant leader material that tends to sink faster than mono. Kast King hard mono is more flexible and buoyant, but it has respectable abrasion resistance at a lower price. Although Fluorocarbon is touted as disappearing underwater, the visible underwater difference between the 2 materials with snaps and swivels is negligible to large predator fish. Either way both materials make excellent leaders !
